How we use AI
Last updated: August 2026
The short version: AI helps build and maintain this website. It never touches your images, because your images never leave your device in the first place.
Where AI is used
- Building the site. AI coding assistants help write and review the code behind these tools, in the same way a developer might use any other tool.
- Writing and improving copy. Explanations, FAQs, and page descriptions are drafted and refined with AI assistance, then reviewed before publication.
- SEO work. Analysing which pages are useful, spotting gaps, checking technical issues, and deciding what to build next.
Where AI is not used
- Never on your images. Compression and resizing run entirely in your browser and no image data is transmitted anywhere. There is no path by which an AI system could see your files, and none is planned.
- Never on personal data. We hold none, so there is nothing to feed anywhere.
- Not inside the tools themselves. This is worth being clear about, because many image tools now advertise "AI compression". The tools here are not AI. Compression is done by libwebp, a conventional, deterministic image codec, and resizing uses standard resampling filters. Identical settings on an identical file produce an identical result every time.
Human review
Nothing is published purely on an AI system's say-so. Pages are checked before they go live, and factual claims about formats, file sizes, and browser behaviour are verified against how the tools actually behave rather than assumed.
That said, this is a one-person hobby project and mistakes will get through. If you find something inaccurate, please point it out and it will be corrected.
Why this page exists
Transparency about AI is becoming an expectation, and the EU AI Act sets out disclosure duties for certain categories of AI system. The tools on this site do not fall into those categories — they contain no AI at all. This page is here because being straightforward about how a site is made is worth doing regardless of whether a regulation compels it.
